Trump SoHo Hotel Countdown

Say what you will about The Donald and The Trump Organization. They're brash and they're bold but, hell, today we like their barnstorming brand of confidence. Why? Because they've just given us an official opening date for the Trump SoHo. And with all the delays in this industry, there is little we love more than marking a hotel's opening in our calendar in Sharpie instead of pencil. The big day? February 1, 2010.

Yes, it will no doubt be a frigid New York's winter day when Trump SoHo throws open it's two sets of towering bronze doors, but weather be damned: there is luxury inside! The 46-story glass tower designed by Handel Architects will house 391 rooms and suites, the interiors crafted by Rockwell Group.

Let's turn it over to the executive vice president of development and acquisitions for The Trump Organization (that would be Ivanka) to elaborate:

We will have more two-bedroom penthouses and more two-bedroom suites than any other hotel in New York. We will have the largest meeting and event space of any hotel in SoHo, including our dazzling top-floor venue, SoHi. And you'll find there's nothing like The Spa at Trump anywhere in the city.

Details we're most looking forward to seeing include: the two-story conservatory lobby, the Library stuffed with Taschen books, the Fendi Casa furnishings (the only hotel in New York to have them, boasts Trump), the three Spa Suites, and, also in spa land, the two separate luxury hammams for men and women.

Actually, we had to look up the word "hammam" to confirm that it was what we suspected: a Turkish bath. Some of those places, the ones with imposing bath attendants waiting to whip us with branches, scare the hell out of us-but we imagine the service at Trump will focus more on indulgence and relaxation.

Rooms are available on February 1st, from $389 a night plus taxes for a Deluxe King. But if your 2010 budget doesn't stretch that far you can always enter the "Trump SoHo Hotel Countdown' contest.
